Manawatu Triathlon Club Athlete Travel Grant

The Manawatu Triathlon Club has decided to award a travel grant to provide financial assistance to athletes attending National or World Championship Triathlons.

Details are as follows:

Purpose

The purpose of this fund is to provide financial assistance to athletes attending World or National Championship triathlons or duathlons in the following categories: Open and age grade etc

Value

Up to $250 may be awarded to contribute to the financial expenses associated with the event. (E.g. entry fee, clothing). The committee reserves the right to grant more funding in exceptional circumstances.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the Athletes Travel Grant you must have been a financial member for 1 year prior and also rejoined the club prior to 31st December in the current year of membership.  The Committee reserves the right to award an applicant who has not been a member for more than one year under exceptional circumstances and if funding permits. Applicants can normally only be successfully granted the award once in a calendar year. The committee reserves the right to grant more funding in exceptional circumstances.

Selection Criteria

Applicants must have contributed to the club in the previous year in a way such as volunteering at club run events. Preference will be given to those members who have contributed significantly to the club. The selection committee reserves the right to consider factors outside the usual selection criteria under very exceptional circumstances.

Responsibility of the Award

The Manawatu Triathlon Club Athlete Travel Grant shall be awarded annually by the Manawatu Triathlon Committee on the recommendation of a selection committee consisting of the President & Vice President.

Payment

The award/fund will be paid out on receiving recipients. The award will be deposited into the recipient's bank account or a nominated account where written approval to do so is provided by the recipient and permission is granted on a case by case basis by the President of the Manawatu Triathlon Club. Bank details must be supplied on a statement providing proof of account and name and name or cheque will be written out to the recipient only.

Condition of Award

Successful applicants are required to seek media promotion; and ensure that the Manawatu Triathlon Club is acknowledged at media opportunities. Recipients will be aware that their behaviour could potentially impact on the reputation of Manawatu Triathlon Club and all recipients will undertake to behave in a manner that does not bring the club into disrepute. Where possible, in agreement with Triathlon NZ and the event̢۪s sponsorship regulations, successful applicants are required to display the Manawatu Triathlon club logo on appropriate clothing. Recipients are required to submit a report to the president one month after attending the event. Recipients are required to adhere to Triathlon NZ's anti-doping policy and comply with the World anti-doping code.

Closing date

Applications must be submitted at least ONE MONTH BEFORE the event.

Applications

Applications must include:

  • A brief CV of sporting achievements over the last two years specific to the event
  • A budget for the total cost of attending the event and the proportion for other sources and amount of funding received and/or applied for
  • Proof of FORMAL SELECTION
  • Evidence of contribution to Manawatu Triathlon Club in the previous year
