Club wins at Sports Club of the Year Awards 2011

The Manawatu Triathlon Club won the award for 'Participation Initiative of the Year' in the 2011 Property Brokers Grassroots Sports Awards held on the 23rd of September 2011.  We were also a finalist in the 'Club Event of the Year' category and our major sponsor, Manawatu Toyota, was a finalist in the 'Sports Partner of the Year'

School Champs prove popular

The growth of triathlon and duathlon in recent times was best illustrated by the strong turnout in the Contact Schools Nationals categories, with athletes from as far a field as Whangarei in the North and Christchurch in the South making the journey.

National Schools Duathlon Champs 2011

Juniors from the Manawatu Triathlon Club enjoyed a successful weekend of racing at the National Schools Duathlon Championships in Taupo on Sunday, 14th August, 2011. Despite gale force winds, sleet and bitterly cold temperatures, not to mention strong competition across all age groups, the 8 Juniors competing brought home 4 medals between them.

Club wins Sport Manawatu Awards 2009

The inaugural Grassroots Sports Awards were held by Sport Manawatu on Friday October 9 at the Palmerston North Convention Centre. The awards encompassed the Sports Clubs of the Year Awards and the Volunteer Coach of the Year Awards and it is the first time that these awards functions have been combined.

Club wins Sport Manawatu Awards, again!

What a night our club had on Friday night at the Property Brokers Sports Club of the Year 2010 Awards.

We received an Excellence Award (which is Sports Club of the Year) in the Event Management Category and additional Merit awards in three categories: Player Development, Marketing Management and Community Management.

A new version of triclub.co.nz has just been launched as you can see. Please bear with us as we sort through a few teething problems. Essentially the new site will allow us to more easily provide news, photos and online forms, as well as the regular functions like upcoming races and results you are used to.

Feilding turns on a stunner for Contact Duathlon

The Contact National Duathlon Championships were held today in Fielding with age group titles on the line in open and school categories.

The weather was perfect with no wind, slightly overcast skies and temperatures in the high teens greeting the 380 competitors.

Racing was focused in and around Fielding High School with three distance categories on offer from sprint to short to standard culminating in the National Standard Duathlon championship, a race that also carried Oceania Championship status for the elite competitors.

National Schools Triathlon Championships 2011

MANAWATU TRIATHLON CLUB competitors represented the club with distinction at the Triathlon Championships earlier this week. It was a hilly, chilly course on the outskirts of Queenstown.

Club members compete in the Auckland ITU Age Group Triathlon 2011

22 Club members recently competed in the Auckland ITU Age Group Triathlon on Sunday 20th November 2011.  Five members competed in the Sprint distance and the remainder in the Olympic distance triathlon.  Congratulations to Hamish Hammond on coming first in the 20-24 year old men.
