Xterra Duathlon 2011
Wet weather did not deter a small field of competitors in the Manawatu Triathlon Club XTerra Duathlon held at Panieri Park on Sunday morning. The sun came out just in time for the race start, but heavy overnight rain had left the mountain bike course muddy and slippery. This proved perfect for Dominic Furket, who although lagging on the run behind New Zealand representative triathletes Hamish Hammond and Will O’Connor, showed his strong mountain bike pedigree to punish everyone one the bike leg and win the long course race by over 3 minutes. The medium and short course races were won by youngsters Thomas Stannard and Sam Phillips (both age 10).
The next event put on by the Tri Club will be the first triathlon of the Summer Series, held out at Linton Army Camp on Sunday 13th November.
